In August 2010 the Royal Lankhorst Euronete Group announced the acquisition of a new industrial unit in Rio de Janeiro – Brazil. This new industrial unit is used for production of deep water mooring ropes for the oil & gas industry and ropes to supply to the local maritime market, like tug boats, tankers and other types of shipping vessels. At a later stage it will be considered to produce some other products from our actual portfolio in Brazil as well.
José Luis Gramaxo, President /CEO of the Royal Lankhorst Euronete Group, previously mentioned: “We should produce where the market need is.” And to confirm this we very recently signed a contract to supply Petrobras with approximately 11,000 Tons of deep water mooring ropes with a value of around US$ 75 million. This contract is probably the largest contract ever awarded to produce deep water mooring ropes for oil & gas platforms in the world.
Ricardo Diz, partner and Board member of Lankhorst Euronete Brasil: “This is the start of a long commitment to the offshore activities in Brazil and we thank Petrobras for their trust and support given to our project.”
The production facility of Lankhorst Euronete Brasil covers around 5,000m2 in a property in the Industrial site of Queimados in Rio de Janeiro of 18,000m2 with easy access to the ports of Rio de Janeiro and Sepetiba.
José Luis Gramaxo: “We hope that for our new industrial plant in Rio de Janeiro this is the first of many new interesting developments to happen in the near future and that it will increase our presence in South American markets.”
The first deliveries for this new contract are expected to start during the second half of 2012.
