The Wärtsilä Inland Water Ways business made new strong steps forwards for its business by selling the propulsion workshop in Duisburg and Mannheim to Koedood Propulsion GmbH, a daughter organization of the Dutch based Koedood Dieselservice. In October both parties signed an APA (Asset Purchase Agreement) being effective as of November 1 2011.
To further augment Wärtsiläs’ keen interest and long-term commitment to the IWW market in Germany, Wärtsilä Netherlands, which hosts the IWW businesses, agreed with Koedood Dieselservice to sign a distributor’s agreement as well. Both companies can now offer a full range of engines, propellers and services in the Inland Water Way (IWW) business also along the Rhine. In Europe this business counts 18.257 vessels. With the expertise of both companies, Bram Kruyt, Director IWW, expects to offer a full range of products and services to the IWW customers: high and medium speeds including Wartsila’s Dual Fuel Engines are now hosted by this cooperation. “
Bram Kruyt is happy with this settlement: “The Duisburg and Mannheim workshops have dedicated employees. Now, becoming a part of Koedood Propulsion Gmbh, they will have a new future as Koedood Propulsion Gmbh is fully dedicated to the Inland Water Way business. “
