New B-15 certified sound reduction floating floor

Date: 22 December

New regulations are banning the use of traditional floors and compelling yards to fit non-combustible floors in yachts of over 100 metres in length. The new non-combustible floor panels from Drumarkon – called Druma-Floor NC/SR - meet these new regulations and are certified in accordance with IMO Res. 754 (18) in class B15 and SOLAS. At the same time, their construction, features, weight and installation are identical to conventional sandwich floor panels.

Druma-Floor NC/SR, with an RW value of 33 dB, is constructed from a calcium silicate core, with an aluminium plate on two sides that is fixed with sound-insulating glue, placed on Bisco™, an IMO-certified alternative for Sylomer. The panels have grooves all around and can be installed by means of an aluminium spring and fixed with steel countersunk screws.

The watertight panels are delivered with heavy synthetic corner protectors and pre-drilled with sink holes. This ensures easy installation without the need for special tools. The floating floor system also provides space underneath the floor for the installation of floor hatches.
