Improve and deepen your knowledge of marine propulsion systems
10.07.2018
The training series: ‘Marine Propulsion’ is a unique technical and international oriented training series for those who wish to acquire in-depth knowledge of the design of different marine propulsion systems. Netherlands Maritime Technology (NMT) organises this training series once a year and will start again in September 2018 in Rotterdam. Improve and deepen your knowledge of marine propulsion systems and register now!
Module 1: Propulsion Plant Concepts and Basic Ship Hydrodynamics
Different power plant concepts and their main components, such as general design considerations and component interaction are discussed on the first day. Ship and propeller characteristics are the main topics on the second day. This module will take place on 18th and 19th September 2018.
Module 2: Marine Propulsors Characteristics
This module will provide the participants with a thorough understanding of the working principles of a wide variety of marine propulsors. This module will take place on 8th and 9th October 2018.
Module 3: Diesel and other Marine Internal Combustion Engines
Module three recently has been upgraded according to recent technological developments, such as gas engines. The working principles and characteristics of different types of internal combustion engines, like diesel, gas and dual-fuel reciprocating engines are discussed. This module will take place on 29th and 30th October 2018.
Module 4: Electrical Drive Characteristics
During the fourth module participants will learn about the fundamental working principles of electrical power generation and distribution systems. This module will take place on 19th and 20th of November 2018.
Module 5: Matching Propulsion Engine and Propulsor
The last module discusses the procedure of evaluating the operational situation of a propulsion system, in both design and off-design conditions. This module will take place on 10th and 11th December 2018.
Pamas certification
Three modules of the Marine Propulsion training series together have a Pamas certification: module 1, module 3 and module 5. Participants that are enrolled for all these three modules can apply for this special NMT Marine Propulsion Pamas certificate. The Pamas certification is the Dutch certification for technical, maritime post-academic trainings. Participants who have completed these three modules in previous years may also apply for a NMT Marine Propulsion Pamas certificate.
